At Olympic View Dental, Dr Chilton and his staff are well known for making a “remarkable” and “outstanding” difference on the way a patient may perceive a dental visit. Our relaxing office brings the patient to a whole new level of dentistry. During a New Patient visit you will receive:
Comprehensive Dental Exam
You may think that a comprehensive dental exam consists only of a cleaning and a look at your teeth. Actually, there’s quite a bit more to it than just that. And because of this you may not receive a cleaning at your first appointment.
An initial Comprehensive Dental Exam includes the following:
Obtaining a written record that details your medical/dental history, including a listing of all current medications.
A thorough oral cancer screening, both visually and digitally (using the fingers). Checking all of your lymph nodes, lips, tongue and the insides of your mouth and cheeks.
A series of diagnostic digital X-rays that provide a comprehensive view of your teeth and condition of your bone.
A periodontal examination, which includes a thorough screening and assessment of your gums – to check for any signs of periodontal (gum) disease.
A series of Intra oral/extra oral digital pictures with a subsequent "tour of the mouth" while reviewing the pictures of your teeth. Dr. Chilton will organize the tour into four categories: Cosmetics, Function, Teeth and Biology (Gums, infections etc). This is a really unique and exciting part of the examination. All patients really enjoy this interaction. These pictures will be copied if you wish and sent home with you.
An occlusal exam, to check for bite problems (underbite, overbite, crossbite), worn teeth, and jaw or headache problems, such as TMJ.
A meticulous tooth-by-tooth check to identify cavities, examine any prior treatment and restorations (fillings or crowns) and the current condition of each tooth. We will also locate any chipped, cracked or missing teeth, and identify any work that needs to be performed.
Additionally, impressions/molds of the teeth (when indicated) to make stone models for analysis.
